Who Benefits Most from the Mommy Makeover Procedure?

Childbearing can be one of a woman’s most rewarding experiences, but it can also take a toll on the mother’s body, resulting in a frustrating loss of their hourglass figures. Each woman is affected differently, with age genetics and the size of the infant playing a significant role in how her body recovers. Even with the assistance of a personal trainer and a proper diet plan, both of which are strongly recommended, many women may find it difficult to get it all back together after pregnancy.  The two most commonly affected childbearing body areas are:

  1. BREASTS:  With the enlargement of the breasts during pregnancy and a stretching of breast skin envelope causing
    1. breast sagging,
    2. enlargement and distortion of the nipple/areola complex,
    3. the breast may take on a more elongated appearance,
    4. a loss of cleavage
  2. ABDOMINAL WALL:  Stretching of abdominal wall skin and the muscles beneath resulting in
    1. an overhang and looseness of abdominal wall skin. The most common complaint: When I bend over and look down at my belly, the folds are terrible.
    2. distortion of navel with a skin overhang
    3. loss of tightness of the underlying abdominal wall muscle, resulting in a protrusion of the lower abdominal wall
    4. a persistent accumulation of fat on the waist and upper hip.

The MOMMY MAKEOVER  is a combination of plastic surgery procedures with a goal to tailor the overlying stretched skin envelope and contour the fatty deposits in an effort to return to that pre-pregnancy body shape. In order of frequency the most common procedures performed are:

  1. Abdominoplasty/Reshaping of Navel
  2. Breast Lift/Breast Reduction
  3. Liposuction of Waist/Hips
  4. Breast Augmentation
  5. Buttock Lift

In healthy individuals these procedures can be done in a certified office operating room on an outpatient basis. The length of the procedures will vary between 2 to 4 hours.  Recovery is between 2 to 4 weeks. Most patients choose the combination procedure of Breast Lift and Abdominoplasty.
